Probiotic Green Smoothie

Throughout history kefir was known as the ‘magic elixir’ for its healing abilities- it is absolutely packed with probiotics that are so nourishing and healing for the gut! Intestinal micro flora play an integral role in our health- healthy thriving gut bacteria is associated with health and low levels of micro flora have been associated with ill health.

The little grains kinda look like cauliflower and are a mother culture made up of polysaccharides the primary of which in kefiran. Within this matrix lives a symbiotic culture of bacteria and yeast that ferment the liquid that they are housed in.

The list of beneficial bacteria within these fermentations is extensive, and differs from ferment to ferment. These bacteria aid in improving our health through increased absorption of nutrients within the colon, increased neurological functioning and strengthened immune system.

  • 1 large leaf of kale
  • Handful of spinach
  • 1 tsp maca powder
  • 2 Tblsp freshly fermented kefir
  • 1/2 frozen banan
  • 1/2 cup almond milk
  • 2-4 ice cubes



Blend all ingredients together and serve straight away πŸ™‚
